Evolv Technology's Head of Education, Jill Lemond, served her former school district in the wake of a tragic school shooting and has learned many lessons in the hardest way as she led students, staff members, families, and the broader community back to school safely. Technology is just one part of a safety plan. Eliminating educational disparities is essential for a district to make progress toward educational equity. Two types of disparity for school directors to understand and monitor are disparities in students’ outcomes and disparities in students’ opportunities. In this learning experience, participants will learn a structured process for discovering both types of disparities. Becoming familiar with these concepts prepares board members to ask informed questions and think about student needs in new ways.
