About me
Having experienced her own learning struggles as a young child, it was the powerful influence of one teacher that propelled Dr. Kristi Dominguez, Ed.D, to dedicate the past 30+ years of her life to giving back and educating others. As an educator, administrator, and consultant, she has lived out her own belief that “if you teach to the heart of a child, their mind will follow.”
In her current role as the Superintendent of Ferndale Schools, Dr. Dominguez is known for her systems thinking, strong pedagogical practices, and her finite skills that unify communities.
Dr. Dominguez completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy (Ed.D.) at the University of Washington, a program dedicated to equity-focused leadership through the transformation of educational law and policy. She leads from the heart and is not afraid to dream big when it comes to students, families, and staff. She is a visionary leader and a powerful advocate for the people she serves. Dr. Dominguez has established influential community partnerships through transparent and consistent communication; one of the many ways she unifies the community around her. Dr. Dominguez does not let adult barriers stand in the way of children and families accessing equitable education, birth-21, and is known to influence state policy and program changes to enhance access to educational opportunities by removing barriers through braided funding models.
Dr. Dominguez is best known for her early learning expertise and ability to transform state policy. In Washington, this resulted in the creation of Transitional Kindergarten, Washington State’s early entrance kindergarten program. Dr. Kristi Dominguez has an unwavering commitment to all children both at the local level as well as the national stage.
